Week 1: rest
Laparoscopic or robotic myomectomy: home in 1–2 days, walking gently, off strong analgesia by day 4. Open myomectomy: 3–5 days in hospital, wound care for two weeks.
Weeks 2–6: return to normal
Office work at 2 weeks after laparoscopic surgery, 4–6 weeks after open. Sex from 4 weeks. No heavy lifting for 6 weeks after any technique — the uterine wall is healing.
When to try for pregnancy
Depends on how deeply the wall was entered. 3 months for superficial fibroids; 6 months for wall repairs; 12 months in some open cases. Your operating surgeon should give you a specific number.
