Aesthetic gynaecology at a glance

  • Surgical procedures: labiaplasty, vaginoplasty, clitoral hood reduction, perineoplasty — done in JCI-accredited Istanbul hospitals.
  • Non-surgical options: laser vaginal rejuvenation, intimate skin lightening, PRP — 15–30 minute in-clinic sessions.
  • Approach: ethical, doctor-led. Sometimes the right answer in consultation is not to operate — and we will say so.
  • Recovery: most surgical procedures allow desk work in 7–14 days and full return to activity at 6 weeks.
  • International pathway: free online consultation, then 5–7 days in Istanbul with VIP transfers and structured video aftercare once home.
  • Doctor: Op. Dr. Berra Önsoy — obstetrician & gynaecologist, MD 1997, specialty 2001, ~30 years' experience.

Aesthetic gynaecology brings together procedures that address the physical comfort, function and appearance of the intimate area. The most commonly requested are labiaplasty (reshaping of the labia minora), vaginoplasty (addressing vaginal laxity, often after childbirth), clitoral hood reduction and perineoplasty.

Dr Berra Önsoy offers these procedures only when clinically appropriate, with an honest discussion of alternatives, expected recovery and realistic outcomes. Online consultations are available for UK and international patients, followed by in-person care in Istanbul.

Labiaplasty (labia minora reduction)

A surgical procedure to reshape the labia minora, often chosen to address discomfort with clothing or activity, irritation, or personal cosmetic concerns.

Who it may suit
Women experiencing labial discomfort with clothing or activity, or considering labiaplasty for personal reasons.
Approach
Performed under appropriate anaesthesia with careful, tissue-preserving technique to protect sensitivity.
Recovery outline
Typical initial recovery after labiaplasty is around one to two weeks; full healing takes longer and is guided individually.

Clitoral hood reduction

Reshaping of excess tissue around the clitoral hood, often combined with labiaplasty when appropriate.

Who it may suit
Suitability is assessed individually based on anatomy and personal goals.
Approach
Performed with precise, conservative technique to preserve sensitivity.
Recovery outline
Recovery is discussed alongside any combined procedures.

Perineoplasty

Repair and refinement of the perineum, sometimes chosen after childbirth-related changes or scarring.

Who it may suit
Women with perineal discomfort, scarring or laxity following birth.
Approach
A focused reconstructive procedure to restore tissue support and comfort.
Recovery outline
Guidance on activity and healing is provided individually.

Vaginoplasty (vaginal tightening)

A reconstructive procedure to address vaginal laxity, commonly considered after childbirth. Sometimes referred to as vaginal tightening.

Who it may suit
Women experiencing significant laxity affecting comfort or confidence.
Approach
Vaginoplasty is discussed alongside other options during consultation, only when clinically appropriate.
Recovery outline
Recovery is planned in stages with clear post-operative support.

Labia majora enhancement

Restoration of volume to the outer labia, which may reduce with age or weight loss.

Who it may suit
Women with volume loss in the outer labia causing discomfort or cosmetic concern.
Approach
Options are chosen based on tissue quality and personal goals.
Recovery outline
Downtime is typically limited but varies by approach.

Vaginal rejuvenation

An umbrella term covering surgical and non-surgical options — including vaginoplasty and labiaplasty — aimed at restoring vaginal comfort, support and appearance.

Who it may suit
Suitability depends on your symptoms and priorities.
Approach
Dr Berra will explain which options may be appropriate for you.
Recovery outline
Recovery ranges from minimal to a defined post-operative plan.

Non-surgical intimate rejuvenation

Non-surgical approaches that may help with mild symptoms or as part of a wider plan.

Who it may suit
Women preferring non-surgical options or with mild concerns.
Approach
Only options with an appropriate evidence base are considered.
Recovery outline
Typically minimal downtime; results and expectations are discussed openly.

Laser vaginal rejuvenation

A non-surgical option using fractional CO₂ or Er:YAG laser to stimulate the vaginal mucosa — sometimes considered for mild laxity, dryness or post-partum/menopausal discomfort in appropriately selected patients.

Who it may suit
Women unsuitable for surgery or with mild-to-moderate symptoms, without active infection, pregnancy or a gynaecological oncology history.
Approach
In-clinic 15–20 minute sessions under topical anaesthesia, typically 3 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart. The realistic evidence base and expected benefit are discussed honestly at consultation.
Recovery outline
Same-day return to daily activities; avoid intercourse, swimming pools and tampons for 3–5 days.

Intimate skin lightening (genital depigmentation)

A dermatological approach to gradually reduce hyperpigmentation of the outer labia, groin, perineum and perianal skin caused by hormonal change, friction or post-partum changes.

Who it may suit
Women bothered by localised darkening, without active skin disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Any underlying source of irritation is assessed first.
Approach
Prescription-strength topical depigmentation protocols tailored to skin type and, where appropriate, superficial chemical peels or low-fluence laser. Harsh bleaching agents are avoided.
Recovery outline
Mild redness settles within 24–48 hours; visible results usually appear gradually over 6–12 weeks with strict sun protection.
